Hamat Gader and Balloon Art

This week our Tiyul was to Hamat Gader.  This 40 acre park near the Kinneret boasts one of the largest crocodile and alligator farms in the whole Middle East....as well as an Ancient Roman bath and a thermo mineral pool

In the Roman Period, the hot springs were renowned for their therapeutic qualities and one of the largest bath complexes in the entire Roman Empire was built at Hamat Gader.

The curative properties of the water at Hamat Gader were described by the historian Eunapius who visited in the 4th century. The water is rich in sulfur as well as other important minerals. Bathing in the water contributes to an accelerated metabolism, cell renewal and the relief of joint pains. The water is almost 108 degrees fahrenheit....and is delightful!!
